Is anyone else in London getting constant estate agent letters?

We've always had the occasional one, maybe every six months, but we've recently started getting like four a week with agents saying they have specific buyers looking for houses, usually also with a specific set of requirements,

We're not looking to sell, but I'm guessing it's a new tactic because not much is coming on? But not sure if it's our neighbourhood or a wider phenomenon.

I’ve had a few recently - but then a house just down from us sold (quickly so presumably at or over asking) so guess that gives agents the idea of leafleting our stretch.

Not recently but I had one a few years ago, someone very keen to live in our road, just when we had decided to sell. We rang the agent minutes after they had hand delivered the letter, and apparently the potential buyer had already had an offer accepted on a different house. I t was just a way of getting more properties on their books.

I'm looking for a new house and my agent recently asked what roads/types of properties we are looking for as he is going to do some targeted marketing. @Ohthisheat I hope someone like you calls him!

You never know! We were literally talking about putting our house on the market when the letter landed on the mat. But in this case, you are a real person rather than a marketing ploy. Hope it works out for you.

You live in a desirable area is what an agent told me.

Oh yes! We are in SW London and get them every few days. Not sure they have become more frequent tbh. They go straight into the recycling - such a waste of paper.

Yes, which makes me laugh because it took 6 months for our last place to sell in 2024.

NW London and its the same here. I cannot think of any time since we moved where we have not had regular mail from local agents looking for properties in the area. They just go in the recycling here as well.

We've always had one here and there, but we're getting them multiple times a week now. I have to think it's because they're low on properties at the moment.

Yes so much, it’s driving me crazy. We are on the market though so that’s why. Dexters sent me so much I phoned and complained. I think EA are desperate as the market is dire.

MrsKateColumbo · 25/06/2026 21:39

Yes, im getting unreasonably annoyed about the paper wastage

At least they're having to work for their money these days! Last time we were looking to buy I had one tell me she didn't work Fridays or Saturdays.

Possibly - are you in a popular area or part of hte country? I’m in small knot of low turnover/popular roads and we have always had these letters. They increase with the first cuckoo of Spring.

It may be general instability leading to people sitting tight rather than moving at the moment unless they need to?

We're in a perennially popular area of London, but I don't think the popularity has changed or increased particularly lately, so I suspect it's the sitting tight aspect at the moment.
