We need more info.

Has it just appeared or always been there but not so big?

Any history of fracking in the area, building work with JCBs going past or subsidence?

How old is the house?

NullaEffugium · 14/06/2026 18:36

what is the debris around it?

As pp said, need more information. Has it just appeared? Have you just found it because you peeled back some wallpaper? How long have you been in the house and has it been there the whole time? How old Is the house? What is the construction? Plaster on brick?

This is how far I can get a butter knife into the largest part of the crack

well you haven’t answered anyone’s questions so I’m going to assume it’s an old
house with old plaster under old wood chip wall paper. It’s likely fine , been there
for years and previous owners papered over it. More than likely all your old plaster is blown and needs replacing, but your house won’t fall down.

So sorry!
Yes it's an old house converted into 2 flats, this is on the upstairs flat on an internally wall.
