Does anyone have an integrated garage and use it for storage?

Do things stay dry and not damp out there? I understand it’ll be cold in there but would you store fabrics, suitcases and things like that in there?

garden furniture cushions etc?

We have half an integral garage as the other half we created in to a laundry room. The garage part is actually very warm as we have a water softener in there, a fridge in there. Don't know what actually makes it warm...will ask OH if you want.

Yup, our integrated garage is fine for storage, clothes, suitcases, food, etc, but it's got a proper pitched tiled roof and doors/windows are properly snuggly fitted and sell sealed etc. We never give it a second thought as to what to store in it as nothing, in 29 years living here, has gone damp nor mouldy etc by being stored in the garage. Yes, it gets cold, but it doesn't get damp because there are no leaks so no way for rain etc to get in, and a bit of draft under the big garage door allows it to "breath" with a flow of air.

I think most people with integrated garages use them for storage rahter than putting cars in !

I haven't noticed anything going mouldy, but I guess it depends how well the garage is sealed and what is actually stored.

If you want to store fabrics maybe put them in those vaccum sealed bags - there is advice on the net how to stop mould - make sure they are clean, use silica gel etc.

The same probably goes for the loft.

We stored clothes for a year and there was definitely a musty smell when we came to move again.
Although the garage was integrated, the garage door wasn’t a good seal and the window in there used to have a lot of condensation on it during some months.
