How would you paint this bedroom fireplace in South London? It’s going to be sold. ----

Something has gone wrong. I want to attach this photo to my previous posting home decoration.

How can I move this post to home decoration?

All I'd do is paint the inner bit black. ATM it is white. I'd leave anything else for new owners so they can do it to their own taste.

Thank you so much for the first person to reply. I really appreciate it. Okay the white bit of the fireplace. Yes I agree. What about the surround which is just at the moment primed?

What is the surround? Is it tiles that have been painted over and a wooden shelf or is the whole think cast iron? If I were keeping it I would try to strip all the white paint off, and try to restore it. If that's too much I would probably try to pain the whole thing in blackboard paint or similar. It leaves it matt and textured so from a distance the closest thing to cast iron you could get and would make it stand out less.

Are you leaving the floors showing as wooden and the hearth as slate? or whatever material it is? If so I'd paint inside the mantelpiece the same colour as the walls - black would look to much if the hearth was also black. And I'd paint the mantelpiece surround an off white or a colour picked from other colours in the room. Oh and I'd 'black' the fire bars/grate front.

Thank you for all comments. I’ve just got to go ahead and decide haven’t I?
