How should you brief a damp and timber surveyor after Level 2?

Just this, if a Level 2 survey suggests further damp and timber inspection is required in a 1900 terraced home, how do you brief the subsequent surveyor?
Do you tell them everything you know about the property including feedback from the seller and the relevant pages of the survey? Or, do you let them independently look and see what they come up with?
It's a house a family member is going after and they've asked me what to do. The family member knows there was a building warrant applied for after an unsupported chimney was found during damp works and there is a paper trail of sorts to show that the seller took the appropriate remedial work.

Is it single brick or cavity wall as the questions and brief will be different.

Edited to say most standard surveys suggest this as an extra survey, most homes don’t require it

In that situation you DO NOT want a damp specialists. Or any damp proof treatments. Any damp issues will have been caused by chemical injections which are the wrong course of action for this era/construction property.

The suggested survey will be a standard rather than required recommendation. Any “specialist” survey in this context will be selling a product/solution rather than advisory.

either don’t have one at all or engage a heritage surveyor or is not selling or affiliated with a company that has a product to sell.

The biggest concern would be “previous damp works” and what damage they may have done.
