Cleaning Artificial Plants and Dried Flowers

Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me with this. I have a large pot with a lot of artificial plants and some hanging dried flowers (images attached). Both are covered in dust and I'm not sure how to clean them without damaging them. Someone suggested using a hairdryer but that didn't really work. Advice / tips etc most appreciated.

Hi George! 've had good results using a soft makeup brush or a clean paintbrush to gently remove dust from both artificial plants and dried flowers. It's much gentler than a hairdryer, which can sometimes damage delicate dried stems or simply blow the dust around.
For artificial plants, you can also wipe the leaves with a slightly damp microfiber cloth if they're made of plastic or silk. Just avoid getting the dried flowers wet, as moisture can make them brittle, fade their color, or even cause mold over time.
If the arrangement is very dusty, try taking it outside first and gently shaking or tapping the pot to loosen loose dust before brushing it. A can of compressed air (used for cleaning electronics) on short, gentle bursts can also help reach tight spots.
I'd avoid vacuuming unless you have a brush attachment and can keep the suction very low, as dried flowers can break quite easily.

Artificial plants and flowers (e.g. the plastic ones from IKEA) I just run a basin of warm water with a capful of Flash, then swoosh them upside down to get rid of dust. Air dry thoroughly.

Don't try this with dried flowers, though!

Put silk flowers into a bag with a few ounces of fine sea salt, and shake it vigorously all around to remove the dust and dirt. Don't try it with dried flowers.

I wash artificial plants & flowers under the hosepipe in the garden or in the shower. Dried flowers are more tricky as they get brittle and break more easily the older they get, but I've sometimes used a small paintbrush to flick the dust off into a waiting vacuum cleaner hose.
