Sheffield - where would you move to?

Dp has been commuting a 50 mile round trip to and from Sheffield every day for nearly 10 years and it's getting too much. Now that we have kids he's agreed we should move to Sheffield to shorten his commute and because our dd is 2 (she could start preschool Sept 2009, and there will be more opportunities for her in a city than the large town we live in now). I am v excited as have been wanting to move to Sheffield for years.
We're after:
Good schools
Commutable to city centre (but dp rides motorbike so distance not crucial)
Community - things to do for littlies and me, walkable to shops, etc
Houses with decent gardens, 3+ bedrooms and garages (can't be doing with on-street parking)
Reasonable access to mways for trips to grandparents.

We probably have about £200k to spend. So... where would you move to in Sheffield?

Dore, Crosspool, Crookes, Totley, Norton Lees.

I would move to Nether Green/Ranmoor/Fulwood area. Great schools in the area, local shops walking distance and great countryside right on your door step.

Oughtibridge - about 7 miles from the City Centre, bit tricky in rush hour but motorbike gets round that. Good schools (top secondary outside of "posh" side - Dore, Totley, house prices consequently higher), friendly primary school, 2 nurseries w after school club etc, nice community, bus route into town or to tram. Only down side is shops are limited - village shop, hairdressers, post office, newsagent, that's it really..

Have a look on something like Globrix looking for Oughtibridge, Sheffield. We're about 10 mins from J36/35A of the M1, and about 5mins from superb countryside..

And I'm moving away from here.. Waaahhhh!! Very complicated job-related reasons, but 4 bed house @ £335k (or not derisory offer I hope...) so no good for you.

Happy to help with any other info!

I would recommend the S10 area - am biased as live in S10 and love it. Has some great schools and some lovely housing too.
