Moving house advice

How long do we need to move house? We are due to complete in the next month and my buyers are pushing for an earlier completion date. Our diary is pretty full. How many clear/free days do we need do you think in order to move and sort ourselves out?

Too much unknown here. How many people, what age kids, any pets to settle, what size property…..?

ideally one day minimum but I’ve done it before, husband abroad working, me taking an hour to get the removal people going, then an hour to sort keys switch. They packed up the two days before. So technically with this move we had no time off at all really. We moved out of rented so I had time to clean at the weekend before handing back. Both large properties.

when you say “sort yourselves out” what do you actually mean? To pack, to unpack, to organise furniture, to clean, to feel settled, to change address details everywhere….?

If you get professional packers in, you live as normal until the day before.

If you are packing yourself, and working full time and looking after kids, it will take ages.

You can unpack enough to survive until the weekend in one evening - but you might be pinning sheets up as curtains.
