Home buyers insurance?

Do buyers get Home Buyers Insurance when purchasing their first home? I’ve looked into it and I’m still unsure as it costs around £200-£300 and lasts around 6 months covering legal fees (up to 2k and surveys up to 1k) if the vendor pulls out. BUT it only seems to last 6 months and what if the vendor takes longer or finds something where they are in a chain? 6 months cover doesn’t seem long. I’m wondering what others experiences are please and how worthwhile this insurance is?

Currently going through the buying process and working on completion dates. Only money spent to date has been on the searches (conveyancer is no complete no charge, bar the searches) and the survey, so all in about 2k as I had a couple of extra inspections. Would I want to cover myself by spending a couple hundred quid to reclaim that back if it went wrong. Probably not, but then my risk profile maybe completely different to yours
