Would a 3m kitchen extension give enough space for open plan living?

Looking to do a kitchen extension. It will be 3m on top of the current kitchen/diner so around 5.5-7m in depth and around 8m in width. We are trying to figure out if there is enough space to do a nice open plan kitchen. We will also have a seperate lounge so one sofa should be enough.

Please ignore the layout of the actual cabinets. These are just placeholders.

We did a kitchen extension and ours is 6.6m deep and almost 7m width. We have a small utility room, 2.5 seater sofa and a TV plus dinning room and kitchen. It’s a fabulous, wouldn’t want bigger.

Sounds a similar size to ours. We have a good sized U shape kitchen, dining area, lounge area and utility with a separate toilet.

Only thing I'd say is don't underestimate how much seating you need. We have a separate lounge at the front of our house, but whenever we have family over they all try to cram into the extension!

My extension is a similar size, but square. Two walls are floor to ceiling glass sections with french doors leading to a wrap around deck, 3m wide. It's a delight to be in and very easy to use both spaces when we have friends over. Just something to consider, if you have the space.
