Timeless kitchen colours and simple ways to add wow factor

I’m hoping to upgrade my kitchen. The current cabinets and layout is fine, I want new doors, worktops, sink etc.

I want a colour I like but I don’t want my kitchen to go out of fashion next year. I’d also like some wow factor touches.

Suggestions on colours please and wow factor additions. Thanks.

It might be helpful to know what colours you like OP

What colours do you like? Pick one of those.

Blue is my favourite colour. Currently I have cream but I would like blue.

At our last house which we completely restored from a repossessed wreck, we fitted in-frame cabinets (mostly drawers) which I painted. We chose F&B Oval Room Blue for the base cabinets and island, then a cream (Craig & Rose Pale Oak) for the walls and wall cupboards. There were only a few of the latter - one double cupboard, a plate rack, tall narrow shelf unit and custom cooker hood.

Imo, the wow factor came from the bright red Bertazzoni range cooker and the wallpaper we used as a splash back behind tempered glass - it was a vintage art nouveau/CFA Voysey design that picked up all the colours we'd used in the room.

In our current kitchen (still a work in progress!), I think the wow factor is going to be a combination of the colours we've picked (Edward Bulmer Pompadour and Nicaragua), huge Whitebirk Belfast sink, plus the beautiful deVol brass butler's knobs I've used on some of the drawers 😍

The colours we've chosen aren't timeless though - but we're not bothered about that, preferring to have something we love.

what kind of style do you like? Modern/ traditional?

here’s a blue kitchens I like anyway! (Though the heart shaped chairs are a little kitschy for me)

I don't think any colours can be timeless, there's always fashions and trends even if we're not aware of them.

I think dark blue cabinets look nice but maybe they would look dated in a few years.

Your wow factor could come from some beautiful glossy tiles from the worktop up to the to the cabinets in a colour you love. And/or in a patterned splash back like in the photo above.

I like that blue but not the red.

Oh that’s stunning!

We have glass very pale “air force” blue with chrome arrow handles. 12 years old and still love it.

Dark blue has the risk of making your room look small and dark.
