Is this large property price reduction likely to be a listing error?

I wonder if this is a mistake - an apparently huge reduction from 600k to 396k. Currently dealing with estate agents myself so wouldn’t be too shocked to discover it was an error!

Mate, there’s only one way to find out! And it isn’t asking us!

Good luck!

Looks like a mistake. £600k is showing as the reduced price on Rightmove

Forgot the screenshot of the app

That looks lovely! Give them a ring!

Maybe something like subsidence was discovered in a survey which means it's not mortgageable and will cost £200k plus to fix.

i know :). I’m not interested in it but the apparent mistake added fuel to my current estate agent related frustration!

Reading the advert reveals:
Home for Life Plan guide price for OVERS 60s: The Lifetime Lease price for this property is £396,500 based on an average saving of 33%.
Market Value Price: £600,000

likelysuspect · 07/05/2026 20:10

Yes the equity release thing has caught you out OP

Always gets me excited until I read the advert properly

Ferryl · 07/05/2026 21:36

Thank you Katie and Likely. Not estate agent error after all then :(.

In other news, sale and lifetime lease was very popular in Russia for a while, reverting afterwards to the owner.

Until organised crime realised they could easily shorten the lifetime of leaseholders.

Boobtasticmumma · 09/05/2026 23:42

The area code listed isn’t correct at all. I mean, I know you can list it anywhere, but 01844 is literally landlocked.

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 09/05/2026 23:45

Ramsgate (Thanet) is 01843 so that is a pretty important error 😳
