Pre build costs for renovation and extension

Afternoon,

So I completed on a property in Feb 2025 and since then been planning for renovation and extension. Planning permit was approved last month and we're now doing structural drawings. Hopefully we'll commence actual building works in the next couple of months.

What I'd like to know is; for anyone who has gone through the process before how much you had spent by this point. Including a drainage mapping survey I'm having performed today, I'm on already on about £4.5K. This includes; fees for site survey by architect, architectural drawings, planning application fees, structural drawings, SAP report, drainage mapping survey (....something else I know I've left out, need to check my spreadsheet). I think its a little crazy considering a shovel hasn't even hit the ground yet ...and I'm getting a bit concerned about possible hidden cost eating into my budget ot am I over thinking it?
