Folding shower screens over bath

These seem like a good idea, so I’m wondering why I don’t see many around. Are they a fairly new innovation, or are they just very leaky?

Two images attached.

I've had a similar 4-fold screen for around 10 years now. Doesn't leak and goes nicely out of the way. Bit more of a faff to clean maybe, but I find it far more practical than the traditional solid screen.

I've had one for about 15 years, it's great in my small bathroom, no issues.

Look up Outasight shower screens. Had one for ten years without issue but they don't often get mentioned.

I have a full screen glass one and wish I had a folding one as my friend has one and it’s sturdier and you can keep it out of the way more when not in use.

We had one in a hotel last week. I thought what a great idea until it kept flying open in use, soaking the floor. I honestly believe that it was badly fitted though!

Ours is a two piece folding screen, works fine, great to be able to fold it right back for cleaning.

We have one, it is great. Bathroom fitter insisted it would be rubbish and they all leak, but we ignored him and he was wrong!

In our previous home we had a folding screen for almost 30 years, replaced once. It was great as we had a small bathroom. As another poster said a bit more of a faff to clean but absolutely no issues until 1st one broke about 22 years in.

We had one of those in our old house, and it was great, stowed away almost invisibly. However it was only used occasionally (when the other shower was in use, or when our ensuite was being renovated). However it was a bit of a faff to make sure it aired properly to prevent mould - probably no worse than other shower screens screens I guess.

It was a good option for our tiny family bathroom, where more solid shower screens would have restricted access to the bath or blocked the door.

Same - much nicer in the bathroom to be able to fold it in half for making the room feel less crowded.

Those Outasight shower screens don’t seem to be available any more, apart from the odd one popping up on eBay. Looks like they were a good idea and a smart option at the time but I’m thinking perhaps now they can’t compete with the newer technology which allows for the solid glass folding options to be more commercially viable.

Anyway, thanks all. I’ve had a fascinating trawl online and I’ll be off to view some folding glass screens this weekend.
