New kitchen advice

I am thinking about having a new kitchen installed but would like to knock through into the next room to make a large kitchen diner with roof lights. Is this something a kitchen designer would do? I have never had an extension or major work down like this and don’t know where to start.

If we just use the existing kitchen and use DIY kitchens for example how on earth does a novice plan the best layout or make sure measurements are correct.

I think some people get another company to do a floor plan with measurements and take that to DIY kitchens.

We went to B&Q to design bathroom and then used that to purchase elsewhere so could do the same for kitchen.

DIY kitchens have a design service for £30. It's not amazing but it gives you a list of what to order.

Oh that’s helpful.

Ikea have a free 3D kitchen planner tool. Kitchen shops have free consultations with a kitchen designer of course then assuming you’re going to order with them.

I think you need a structural engineer to see if wall can be pushed through. He could also look at the roof lights (?)

Builder or roofer can create the roof lights. Checkatrade is where you can start looking for them. Get three quotes at least to compare.

I‘d get a detailed quote rather than all in to see cost of each item you’re getting
