I drilled through a water pipe - now what??

Yes exactly like the cartoons. Trying to hang a mirror in the downstairs loo.

I’ve turned off the water supply. Called insurers emergency home care number. They said they can only send a plumber if there is access to the pipe.

Now carefully opening the wall and revealing a tiny plastic pipe. Does anyone know how much space a plumber would need?

Oh no! To be honest I would probably just call a plumber yourself to do the whole job, including going into the wall, rather than going through insurance… not sure that’s particularly helpful though

You can temporarily (well permanently) fix it by getting the right size pipe connector from b&q. Cut the drilled piece of pipe away and connect the two ends with the connector. My husband has also done this and that’s how we fixed it (on advice of our plumber who was on hols at the time!) It was honestly super straightforward. The only thing that will delay you is shops being closed today!

Thanks, I have an emergency plumber coming out. £££ but we really need to get the water back on.
