Living in Lingfield

I’m currently thinking about buying a property in Lingfield and would really appreciate hearing from people who live there or know the area well.

One of my main concerns is aircraft noise, especially at night. How noticeable is it in day-to-day life? Does it tend to disturb sleep, or is it something you get used to over time?

I’m also curious about any thoughts on the potential impact of a second runway at Gatwick. Do locals feel it’s likely to significantly increase noise or change the character of the area?

Overall, I’d love to hear your honest experiences—both the positives and any downsides of living in Lingfield.

SIL used to live nearby (Dormansland). From what I recall, flights are reduced after 11pm but not stopped entirely.

Coming from Wiltshire, we found the aircraft noise very intrusive - but the ILs said you don't notice it after a while.

Having said that, I like Lingfield.

You need to look at the proposed CAA flight path changes as well as second runway. Race days can be very congested.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I do also like Lingfield - the only concern is the aircraft overhead as I am a light sleeper.
