Child proofing and settling in toddler

Our house purchase is (hopefully) nearing completion, so we will be moving soon.

Currently we're in a small flat and our 2 year old is always nearby but with a new baby (couple of months old now) and more space he's not going to be in arms reach all the time. So what childproofing does a house need that I may have forgotten? Any recommendations for products?

Stairgates and something to keep cupboards closed are on my list. There's a few random steps between some rooms, as well as actual stairs, that I need to figure out if there are wider gates for.

Also any suggestions for settling a toddler into a new home? It's a change of city and nursery as well as home so nothing will be the same.

Thank you!

Oh and it has fireplace for them to bang their heads on, other than putting cushions down I don't know what to do with them!
