this house is in an ideal village for us.
upstairs perfect. Downstairs living room if too small, needs utility, storage? Ideally a bigger living room - could spend 50-65k on it but for that I’d like it too look better from the front too is it possible? What would you suggest

Should have said need to keep the study space doesn’t need to be where it currently is but need a downstairs study at least that size ideally bigger

Could the living room, stairs, study become one open plan room and make a study out of part of the garage?

Id convert the garage into a utility at back and a study at front. Knock through to the study for a larger living space. I suspect that would be the cheapest option.

I'd convert garage into utility at the back and study at the front, and move the front door to where the study is to make a better entrance. Not sure on costs but if I could i would extend the garage up to where the front door currently is to make a bigger study and so I didn't need to go through the study to get to utility or vice versa making use of existing doorways, plus I always think a front door should be on the front of the house

Block the door from the hall into the garage up then you can make a large cupboard against that wall.
Block up half the garage so that the front can still be used for storage then extend the kitchen into the rear part of it and add a utility room.

I can’t seem to locate this property on Streetview but what have similar houses done to the outside? I’d probably hedge in the left part of the front to make it look less utilitarian. There is a lot of brickwork at the side and back! Regarding the inside, if you feel this is the house for you I would live in it for a year before reconfiguring, you will have a better idea of what does and doesn’t work for you. The downstairs wc is annoying though, stuck in the middle.
