Renovating a large room

I have a large room with very high ceilings that has wood chip wallpaper and layers of paint on top. The walls are in really bad condition underneath and so they need stripping and then plastering. The ceiling is too high for me to do all the stripping. Do plasterers do this, or who would I need to do this first? It will also need painting. What type of tradesperson would do al of the work? Thanks.

I think realistically you will need a painter and decorator to strip the room and then return to decorate it once you've had it re-plastered by a plasterer.

Is it an old property? Is it listed?

Thanks both. It’s not listed so we don’t need to consider those constraints.

Agree, P&D - plasterer - P&D.
A plasterer will not want to be wasting time stripping wood chip (and will probably refuse to do it anyway).
It is quite possible that one of the trades may well be able to recommend another as they have worked on the same jobs before. If you can get a P&D and plasterer who can liaise with each other it is going to help.
