Moving Fridge Freezer

I have to move my frost free fridge freezer and am wondering when (or if) it will need to be turned off. It will only be moving about 10 minutes down the road, do I need to need to turn it off ahead of time and leave doors open, or will it be ok to just turn it off before putting it in the van, then turn it back on ~20 minutes later once we've arrived?

Read the instructions or download the manual on line.

But fridges generally you are supposed to wait a bit after you move them before running them because the coolant sloshing around inside when they are switched on is not supposed to be great for them.

Empty it first

Keep it upright while moving

This prevents the gas forming bubbles in the pipes, which is the reason you are told to leave them standing for 24 hours to settle.

I would be inclined to position it and leave it until the rest of the moving was finished, and it had been refilled, before plugging it in again, even if it been kept upright. You might find it had been tipped over to get it through doorways or up steps. Mine was moved by professionals who took great care to move it upright.
