I've read that the one way mirror/window film can be tricky to apply, especially for larger windows/doors. Any recommendations or brands to avoid?

We had it on our office windows.
Installed correctly it looks great (i.e. unnoticeable) but I have seen it in a friend's house and it is awful with air bubbles, rough edge trimming etc.

Remember that it only works in daylight.
At night it works in reverse so with a light on you will see the reflection on the inside but from the outside-in, the view will be perfect.
Use window coverings when it gets dark and you put the lights on.

Doesn't matter what the brand is. It more about the way you apply it.

Cut the film to size first with the backing still on. Clean the window and then cover it with water with washing up liquid. Then start at one end, peel back part of the film and stick one edge, then smooth the film down as you peel the rest of the backing off. The soapy water means that if you get a bubble, you can pull the film back and resmooth it down.
