Stair runners

We have hard flooring at the bottom of the stairs, carpeted stairs with a half landing and carpet at the top. Stair carpet needs replacing. Would a runner look strange and how would you tackle the half landing?

Possibly DIY with one from Dunelm.

What do you mean ‘half landing’? What does that look like?

We might have similar. We are reflooring soon and going for hard flooring at bottom on stairs, runner up the stairs. Then at top of stars we have a square of landing and then a step up to rest of landing. We’re going to continue stair runner up this square of landing and then carpet the rest.

Our half landing is where the stairs go up half way, rectangle of half landing then stairs continue to the top in the opposite direction with a full 180 degree turn. https://www.georgequinn.ie/common-types-of-staircases/
