Window bars

Not sure what they’re called but I had new windows put in a few years ago and I really like the look of the windows with those white bars in them. Can they be added after windows have been fitted does anyone know? No idea what they’re called.

Hey, we have just had new windows with these they’re called astrical bars (I think that’s how it’s spelt) we had them on the inside and out and absolutely love them! Not sure if they can be added afterwards though

Yes,they just stick on.

Assuming they come with straight cut ends, the biggest problem will be shaping the ends so they fit neatly up to the frame and where they cross one another, more time consuming rather than difficult.

Our windows have them (provided from new) and in time several have dropped off so we just stick them back on again using weatherproof tape.

@Nourishinghandcreamoh ok. Thank you. Not sure how I’d get them in the windows upstairs! I thought they went in the middle of the two panes of glass?

They’re stick on. You can put them on however you like
They don’t affect the efficiency of the window

They’re called Georgian bars when they are inside the glass (I only know this as we are getting new quotes for windows. Our current windows have them in and we’d like the new ones to have them, so they match the rest of the street). They do add a cost to the windows, though.
You can also get them added to the outside of the glass. This is even more expensive, I believe.

Thank you. I think it’s Georgian bars I was looking to get but the other ones sound a cheaper way of doing it

@billandtedsexcellentadventureno problem :) I think their Georgian when on the inside and astrical when on the outside,
ours wasn’t able to just be stuck on though they had to be cut to size and then fitted to each individual window so they wouldn’t be able to just fall off 😊

@billandtedsexcellentadventuresorry just to add as well Georgian bars are flat on the inside of the panes whereas astregal bars are three dimensional so they stick out from the glass :) Hope that helps!

@germanshepforeverthats brilliant. Thank you so much. I just need to find someone to do it for me now.
