Open plan extension lighting - mix and match or all the same?

We're nearing completion of a big kitchen/diner extension to our terrace house. We've got a couple of downlighters in strategic positions and the rest of the lighting is a combo of wall lights and pendants (and one low light LED strip along the exposed steel beam).

We've got a main long wall run with three wall lights and need to choose a pendant over the island.

Then we have a kind of extra area on the main space which will have the dining table - there will be a pendant over the dining table and two more wall lights in this area.

I can't decide if we should have the same wall lights throughout and choose two matching pendants for the island and table, or if I should mix and match between the 'dining' and 'kitchen' areas?

I'm leaning towards single wide pendant fittings rather than three dangly ones.

Has anyone done something similar?

I’d prefer mix and match otherwise it can look like you just bought a job lot from a supplier, but they need to have a visual link so it looks deliberate

eg various shapes but all ribbed glass shades/ all red/orange/blue or whatever your colour scheme is, all angular steel etc

complementary rather than matchy-matchy

@Defiantlynot41 thank you, that's helpful. Definitely going for complimentary not matchy matchy, and they will be different to the rest of the ground floor living rooms etc, but wasn't sure if they'd look odd if there were different within the same sight lines if you see what I mean. I might see if I can find a two similar pendant fittings in different sizes/shapes for the island and dining table for eg.
