Carpet dilemma - help!

Ground floor is all LVT (not my choice ) but looks ok and practical. Except for small lounge which currently has a nice neutral wool carpet. Unfortunately 2 dogs and 2 kids mean carpet is grubby and needs replacing.

I am not sure I fancy LVT in lounge and might not get a match for current floor and thinking wood would look odd as doesn’t match rest of flooring. What would work? I’d like carpet again really so a big rug on top of LVT? Or a different colour carpet? What though? (Room is grey walls and sofa/ yes very 2020 but can’t afford to change!)

help!

If you can afford new carpet I’d spend on getting a warmer wall colour and banish the grey also can’t the wool carpet be cleaned?

You can grab those cleaners or the price of cleaning has come down lots. Save yourself the cost?

For me I’d paint the walls get a professional clean done and then grab a rug to protect the ongoing muck!

Don’t get me started on wall colours! Ha ha! I actually don’t mind grey even though it’s dated now. I do think I will paint it more of a warm neutral at some point though. I’m sticking with a grey sofa though because this one I like.

I'd pain the wall and buy a big ruggable rug. They are machine washable and pattered and ideal with dogs. it will cover the carpet and leave you free to repaint the walls.

I don’t mind the wall colour though! It’s more whether I get carpet or something like LVT or wood- which won’t match the other floors.
