Pull-out towel rails in kitchen units - any good?

Planning a new kitchen and DH is desperate to get rid of having tea towels hanging on a rail on the end of the kitchen island. We've planned a pull-out towel unit, but my experience of the one in my parents' kitchen is that the towels get stuck in the side of the door and need tucking in every time you use it. Is theirs just badly designed or they generally a bit of style over functionality?

Bad idea imo

Towels won’t dry in a cupboard
Cupboard may even go a bit mouldy
How do you access it with wet hands when you need to dry your hands
Towel will end up slung over oven handle or elsewhere and cupboard will be an empty waste of space

We have long bar handles on our bin and dishwasher, these are right by the sink and are perfect place for teatowels

Invest in some nice linen teatowels rather than hiding them in a cupboard?

They won't dry. We have a tall radiator with towel rails. It works well and the tea towel and hand towel dry well.
