Or you can telephone school admission for that area. I did this when I moved to Devon and the woman helpfully told me which schools had vacancies etc. Look up the county council website for the area you are moving too as LIZs said.

We are the same as cat64, no "catchment" but if the school is oversubscribed then they do siblings in first, then as the crow flies.

Ofsted is your first port of call then you could post on here and ask about areas and school, I am sure one of us would live locally to where you are thinking of moving to.

Where are you moving to??? What area??

My husband accosted politely asked a man in a car outside a school (at 10am) what he thought of the school as he had just seen his partner jump out of the car with a little girl to take her in. He told us straight that the school was okay but that if he had a choice he would send his to X.

My son is now in X school!! It wasn't in our original search area, it was literally just outside!!! We also stopped elderly people on an estate and asked them what the area was like, you can always rely on an OAP to give you the low-down!

Where are you reloacting to, there must be a MNetter there to give you the lowdown
