Dulux paint mix not matching Dulux paint

I’ve recently had some dulux paint mixed by a dulux station in a Wickes store.

I wanted bathroom paint in a colour Dulux don’t do in bathroom paint. To be clear, the colour I wanted was one of their own colours not a different brand.

Ive used half of it, wasn’t loving how it turned out and now I’ve realised that it’s a least 1 shade lighter than the tester pot. I touched up a small bit with the tester pot after I’d finished and washed the brush and it’s really noticeably a different shade.
Ive since gone over it again with the mixed paint and that patch now blends in.

obviously I’ve used half the paint but does anyone know the likelyhood of them replacing it? The woman who served me said they were exact matches as it’s Dulux paint.

Im wondering if they used the wrong base as my tin says it’s light but perhaps it should have been medium.

How old was the tester and was it properly mixed before you used it?

The tester pot was bought less than a week before having the paint mixed.
as it was dulux they didn’t do the thing valspar do where they scan the colour and mix it up.

they just asked what colour and found it on the system. I could have chosen any dulux colour.

Ive now painted some lining paper with the two paints and it’s obviously different.

I successfully had my half a tin of paint replaced.

Thought I’d update in case anyone ever looks up a similar scenario.

long story short, basically the wrong quantity of colour pigment had been added. The person who did it had pressed for 1 litre when it should have been 2.5 litre. So it was technically the right colour but diluted.

Wickes replaced it with the right one 🙌

Random but I’ve always found tester pots to be a different shade from the actual paint! But glad it was sorted out for you
