Can I safely cut this old TV cable?

Just moved into our new home and this old tv cable wire is in the bedroom. Is it safe to just cut off? Or should I be checking it’s not connected to something?

Likely a co-ax cable and yes if so you can just cut it. Have you followed it to the end? It should have a circular connector with a single point in the middle if so. Just make sure it’s not a power cable! Older wiring the cable is white not grey so could be easily mistaken to the untrained eye.

I did exactly this a few months ago with a cable that was at least 20 metres long and went through partition walls and over doors in my apartment.

My cable had a point where it was screwed into a thingummy in an outside wall, presumably where a previous tenant had a dish. Check to see if there's a point where you can unscrew it.

I used a wire cutter to chop it all into bits to have it picked up by a scrap metal man. I also had to take off all the clips that were holding it against the wall, and take it down from its route across the tops of doors and down the door jambs and across the wainscoting into a closet.

I filled up the little holes in the partition walls to prevent mice getting in.
