Which off white for period home

Overwhelming choice, we’re going for slaked lime in the lounge and french grey in the hallway. Can anyone recommend a white to complement these ? I don’t want brilliant white as it’s too harsh.

Slaked lime will read as warm white anyway. I have slaked lime throughout my whole house. It reads differently in different rooms depending on the aspect and light. The rooms where it looks best are those where I have used it in the ceilings and woodwork too. In my kitchen the ceiling is white (literally just brilliant white) and that looks nice too but not as nice as where we’ve just colour blocked it.

The other alternative is to use slaked lime on trim and ceiling and slaked lime mid on the walls.

We used Wimborne white (dulux matched) in our old house and it’s lovely. Has a warm hue to it.

I was surely thinking of using slaked lime on the walls and above the picture rails and ceiling, then the picture rails will stay a bright white. Do you think this could work?

This is another white that I really like, do you think it could work with French grey?

I’ve just looked up French grey and it’s beautiful. I think it would go well with Wimborne white. Sometimes F&B recommended which white would complement so maybe check their website as well.
WW has a warm tone to it; slight yellow undertones but v subtle - it doesn’t look yellow on the walls

Yes I have slaked lime next to brilliant white. It works well but it’s only a subtle contrast because slaked lime is already just off white

Be aware that Wimborne in sunlight will look pale yellow.

It will. I have a navy everhot and a slaked lime kitchen.

Johnstones cotton tail is a good dupe for slaked lime. I went with Johnstones “intuitive” in the end which is a F&B conforth white dupe. It’s a lovely colour

Ahhh! I don’t think we get much sunlight in the hall, it’s east facing but quite a dark space due to the porch and door

Ral 9010 is a white often specified by architects. It’s brilliant at adapting to neighbouring colours and can be used on both walls and ceilings.

Paper and Pain library are really good on neutrals.
however I like Mylands Beata White as the through home cohesive colour that does with everything.

For a period home why not just use a lime wash with real slaked lime? It will cost you about the price of one F&B tin to do the entire house.

No. It reads as white. It's only when you put it next to brilliant white that you realise it's gentler than that. It's not beige at all.
