Fabulous mumsnetters I have some blank walls to decorate. Would anyone like to help suggest some art work. Bit of background - DH and I went through major trauma (both of us a few years ago) and this is a new house we’ve lived in for a year.
To give a feel of our style - DH painted (he’s pretty good) all of our dogs for the hallway and we have some Villager Jim pictures and nice mirrors and various pets as puppies and foals etc Downstairs lounge is really a giant dog bed 🤣 and kitchen and study etc but we have some lovely photos up of our favourite places (large photos) our wedding at a lovely stately home, a beautiful beach front at sunset near where we live and a photo a friend took of the white horse in Wiltshire at dusk.
Our lounge upstairs has a cosy theme (it is fairly big) but we have a nature theme grey / green theme. The kids are wildlife mad so we have lots of fossils, ammonites, lots of plants in these pots (lots of shelves) and some beautiful built in shelves made by a local friend of reclaimed oak. But we have an entire wall that could really do with some nice art work. it has an environmentally friendly (eg fake!!) log burners on the other side and shelves of all their stones and fossils. I’m in the middle of a huge tapestry of a leopard on a branch which I hope to finish about January (after 4 years!) which will be framed and put in the lounge. But there is a wall left blank.
I had a nice bluebell wood and a different trees in a wood large canvasses (!) from next but these vanished during the house move and they would have been in Next about 15 or more years ago I think so fairly ancient - I did look on eBay as I miss them (they relaxed me). So looking for something similar. Or new ideas.
We have a two huge walls and staircases that are literally a blank walls! These don’t need to be nature themed, we were thinking member a family photo wall but don’t know where to start. The staircase is huge and we have two!
We like history, poetry, Roman ruins, animals (two vets or vets to be amongst the adult children and younger one loves animals), countryside. We don’t want to spend loads.
The clocks we got are Dunelm but we liked them. One of these is in the lounge.
just to give an idea!
Anyone want to help? Thanks so much in advance.
And it’s not a huge house a normal 5 bed house not a royal palace, but is on 3 floors.
We worked so hard for this house and it is our forever home. Decking and garden out of the back which has amazing sunset and woods and trees out the front.
