I’ve just spent all evening removing skirtings and cleaning up bucketfuls (it feels like) of caulk after they were supposedly ‘replaced’ today. You’d have thought a preschooler had visited. This has highlighted concerns I had about the original work - they did some damp work based on survey results which after some research I’m not sure is needed anyway. But I expected it to be ‘paint ready’ once finished. It’s the chimney and a couple of walls. The chimney breast undulates n my coving is wrecked. I don’t want tradesmen in my house anymore but there are things to do!!

Horrible. I had a builder once who needed something to mix cement in so he climbed over our garden wall to my neighbour's house (he saw her patio doors open) and took a pan from her kitchen to mix the cement! The next day I found our garage door broken open, padlock wrecked, wood splintered, and as I was about to ring the police the builder said, 'Oh, that was my mate. He forgot to bring the key you lent him so he broke in.' You couldn't make it up.
