Had anyone bought a good one recently? We have a wired in one that's stopped working and solar powered seem a good option?

I have, they work quite well in summer when nights are short and days are sunny.

What do you suppose is wrong with your mains-powered one?

Nitgel · 12/11/2025 20:04

I don't know. We had a new kitchen fitted and the power socket was changed but the light stopped working. The electrician said it could need a new bulb but changing this hasn't worked. He said there was still power there..

Is it an automatic one? What switches does it have?

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 13/11/2025 07:03

@PigletJohn ive been so impressed with them! They’re really bright, too.

Nitgel · 13/11/2025 07:04

"It worked fine before new plug outlet"

I'm very suspicious that a wiring error has been made. If there is an FCU, look to see if the fuse was taken out or has blown. There should be one for a lamp that is supplied from a socket circuit.

But if you can find the instructions, see if you can reset the lamp in some way. I expect it has a light sensor to keep it off unless dark, as well as the motion sensor to turn it on when it detects movement.

The three controls will be sensitivity to light, sensitivity to movement, and time delay before switching off. In some cases you can manually turn on the lamp by flicking the switch a couple of times.

It will be very difficult to test and diagnose the fault if you are not suitably equipped.

I dont think i am.equipped 😄

Will try the switches but it seems dead
