Agreeing a completion date

I’m in Scotland so not sure how different things are but I accepted an offer on my house on 24/10, and prior to that I had an offer accepted on a house to purchase.

the house I’m looking to move in to has no chain as the sellers have moved out and the property is empty.
my buyer is a cash buyer, a dad buying it for his daughter, proof of funds has been sent to his solicitor - it’s savings and premium bonds so easy enough to get a hold of.

we have our mortgage all approved on our side for the purchase and they gave us a potential move in date for mid dec which is fine for us.
we asked our buyers about this date a week ago and have heard nothing? Is this usual? I think we are at the point we are ready to sign as background checks, money checks are all complete but we need a date to put in the contract. The money is sitting there ready to be used why can’t he just confirm? Maybe I’m just being impatient but we need to line up movers and also need to give my kids nursery a months notice if we are taking them out!

Not an expert but my friend was in a very similar position to you in July. She was in her home by the second week in September but only got about two weeks notice.
