Adding fireplace to new build lounge

Has anyone done this or can anyone please suggest some that would work?
If so please tell me what type you went for because I like a fire as a focal point, it has to be an electric fire though.
Any pics or ideas would be great thanks.

A simple DIY option is to get an electric log burner and sit it on some slate tiles and put a floating shelf above it as a mantle sort of like this photo.

My IL had a fake chimney breast in their new build when they bought it but they ripped it out as it took up room in quite a small house.

If you want it as a focal point then I’d go for a bio ethanol fireplace which has actual flame. They’re more expensive and provide lower heat output than electric, but mean you avoid having an electric heater as the fulcrum of your living set up.

Thanks for the replies
@ThirdStorm that looks perfect and we also have a socket in the right place!
Do you mind showing me a photo of yours please?

Go on right move and see whether any of the houses in your area that have recently sold have stuff you like.

We previously built a faux chimney breast and added an electric 'wood burner' at our last-but-one house. It was a large room (20' x 14') so felt it could take it. No pics I'm afraid.

At our current house (a Georgian cottage with zero original features) we've been a little more creative....

In a room that backs onto our integral garage (that itself used to be a room till the 1960s), with no chimney breast or evidence of a historic fireplace, we knocked through into the garage, built a fireplace-sized box on the garage side with timber frame and plasterboard, fitted a reclaimed surround (£20, ebay) and used period style tiles (£45 ebay) to add further detail. We put an Everhot electric stove heater in the opening.

Our little snug now has a focal point (pic attached)!

And another of the room....

This is the limestone fireplace complete with fake chimney breast and electric fire we had installed in our NB living room.
Larger than it looks (we have high ceilings), fireplace is 1.2m high & 1.4m wide.

For some reason I can't find a photo of the completed installation with painting & carpet done!😖
