Bathroom Reno - Do you tell insurer?

We’ve never had anything big done like a bathroom before and we have a company coming in to rip out and replace- is it normal to tell your insurer or do you not need to?

Not normally. Only tell insurers when you’re doing large structural changes like a loft conversion or extension. Simple bathroom or kitchen upgrade is not needed.

It will depend on your policy - read the terms and coverage. Some will require you to notify them of any major work such as removing and installing a bathroom, others only of anything structural.

Dont have to tell them but
Look at your renewal when its due, mine asked if we had any work done in last few years.

Thank you all, much appreciated!

Look at the wording of your policy. Nobody here can tell you how to ensure you comply with your insurance obligations.
