Where would you live if moving to new job in South Sheffield but a bit of travel attached to job and wfh a day a week too.
Lone female parent so not too isolated one child at uni in Manchester and one left home occasionally still visits so could get away with two bedrooms but would prefer three.
Not a new build or estate not much work to do okay with decorating and maybe new kitchen but nothing major .
Maximum budget £375 000.
Is it doable ?
Asking for a friend who doesn’t know area and wants to slim down search and then look at specific properties .

Meersbrook is affordable for that price, and quite up and coming. Nearby Heeley is also ok but not quite as nice.
Millhouses is also lovely and in South Sheffield but probably not doable at that budget.

She needs to be aware that the prices on the properties are "guide prices" and often go for a lot more, so it may be a waste of time to think about ones listed for £375k.
Meersbrook is quite nice as pp has said. She maybe best to come up, drive around and get the vibe.

If she needs to travel a lot, consider proximity to the M1 (or station if she uses the train). There are some lovely parts of South Sheffield, but they can be a bit of a hike to the M1/M18, especially at rush hour.

Yes, good point about quick motorways access. Perhaps look more northern parts of the city? It'll be cheaper, too.

Where will your friend be travelling to? If it is the south then she could live in South Sheffield and pick up the M1 from Chesterfield instead of going via the parkway. Its what we normally do as we live in the south west of the City.
There are a lot of areas that would suit her budget.
As PP said Meersbrook is nice and has a nice community feel.
Other suggestions are Nether Edge, Endcliffe, Broomhill, Crookes, Greystones, Nether Green,

There are plenty of places nearer the motorway but i don't know them as well.
Such as Chapeltown, Ecclesfield,
But I think she needs to look around the areas herself to see which she prefers. Sheffield's suburbs cover a huge area and they all have a different feel.

Have a look at Waverly, its purpose built so a bit souleless for some but I visited last week and liked it more than I expected to

South Anston and North Anston are just the other side of the M1, but still OK for commuting to Sheffield and very quick to the M1

My boss has a young family and travels a lot. He’s just bought a house in Outbridge, to the north of the city, and really likes it and v handy for M1 j36, and between the M62 for E-w travel, and M18 for heading east, and beyond into Lincs.
