Wanting to put a small fence up but need advice re possible covenant

I want to put a small 2ft high x 6ft long picket fence between the side of my house and neighbours. It will be put on my property on a pathway down the side of my house, other side of the fence is neighbours drive way. We have lived in our house for 6 years and the houses are approx 8 yrs old. I've dug out the paperwork and found a Buyers Covenant which states 'not to erect any walls fences or other structures nor allow any hedge to grow on the peroperty btween any b uilding on the property or estate roads'.

What does this mean, am I allow to do it or not???

Sounds like a no to me. You could plant medium sized plants though presumably, as long as they are not classified as hedges. Though what the technical definition of a plant or hedge is I know not.

Tehcnically no. Would it cost a lot if you got made to take it down? Is it to keep people in or out? Nearly everyone on our estate has broken one of the rules - removed plants, planted plants, sky dishes on the fronts etc.

It's to make it look nice and also kids use the back gate so want keep them on our propertya nd not wandering onto neighbours driveway.

I would have a bit of a look around and see if any of your neighbours have strayed from the rules and maybe see if your actual next door neighbour would have an objection - I would doubt this given your reasons - and if both of these seem OK I would go for it.

The covenant is only enforceable if the original company or owner named, or descendants, are still around . Even then someone wodul have to complain to them.

Thanks for the comments guys. Not sure what to do, don't want to get into trouble and neighbours would most likely complain. The buidling company still owns a plot of land around the corner.

I would say no, if the building company are still around and would spot that you have broken the covenant.

We have the opposite covenant with our house (we must maintain a hedge or fence etc). When discussing this with our solicitor he said that this was just a barrier of some kind (could even be a few small plants in a row), and the actual height - 1 ft or 6 ft - was irrelevant.
