How many baths?

We're currently renovating our family house, and trying to decide whether to squeeze in a bath with a shower over it in our top floor bathroom, or whether we should just go for a shower (which is what we have now). It's a small room so the extra space if we just have a shower would be good.

We will have a family bathroom on the first floor with bath and shower over it, and an ensuite to our room with shower on the same floor. Top floor will have two bedrooms and a bathroom. The top floor rooms are just used as a home office/guest room at the moment, but I anticipate my two boys (5 and 2) will move up there in the long term.

For those with older children (10+), do you find they are still using the bath a lot, or would a shower be fine? I don't want to kick myself further down the line!

I think you should just get a shower seeing as you already have a bath in the family bathroom. My kids love a bath so wouldn’t be without one but don’t think you need one on their floor.

One family bath is adequate, so I wouldn't bother squeezing in a second.

I think a bath in the family bathroom and showers elsewhere is fine.

I am very much of the opinion that if you don't want even one bath then removing it is fine (it is your house after all) as long as space exists to reinstate one at a later date.

If you already have a bath elsewhere then a nice shower is better than a crammed in bath.
