Smart meter British Gas

So I finally had the smart meter installed by British Gas. It’s been two days. I am concerned that the screen on the actual smart meter (not to be confused with the IHD screen) is blank. I press a button and it does respond on the screen. But other than that it is blank all the time. Is this normal? My electric smart meter is not like this and flashes and has a display.

My IHD screen still says awaiting data.

I am more concerned about the blank screen on the actual smart meter than the IHD screen.

Forgot to mention my electric smart meter was installed a month ago and that was flashing and screen was working straight away.

So just concerned British Gas smart meter is a blank screen.

Just wondering if anyone else had this when first installed as I can’t find anything online about it. Before I call British Gas next week about this….

The engineer said it would take two days to show up on IHD screen too. But it’s now two days

I'm pretty sure our gas meter screen is blank until you wake it up. I would go and have a look but it's raining.

DH is a meter engineer, this is normal for a gas meter as it runs off a battery so the display doesn’t stay on. You have to wake it up by pressing a button which it is doing as you say you’ve done this.
An electric meter will always be on because it’s permanently powered.

@MrsDoylesTeacup Thanks, that’s reassuring to know. I hope the IHD screen works soon as now approaching day 3 since installation and still awaiting data…
