I’ve just moved home and this is above the kitchen sink by the window. I can’t find a switch for it and it doesn’t light up, hum, buzz or blink. There are separate smoke detectors and a CO2 detector too. I can’t work it out.

Do any of you know what it might be? Thank you.

Google image search says cooker extractor

Could be anything. Normally alarms have a test button on them so probably not one of those.

Doesn't look like a filter as not enough air gaps, but maybe there is a gap around the top.

Perhaps the surround can be twisted off, or maybe the inner segment levered off or twisted loose.

Looks like my WiFi booster.

I have one of these instead of an extractor over hob

I have one on my wall that looks like that. It's an extractor fan. It's meant to operate automatically when it detects humidity, but doesn't work. So I use a dehumidifier and open the window instead.

I haven’t noticed it doing anything, so perhaps mine is as automatic as yours 😊

Thank you all for your responses. I’m guessing it’s a non functional extraction device 😊
