Painting uPVC front door? And what colour?

We are thinking of painting our uPVC front door - planning to sell in a couple of years so doing things to give a bit of a tidy up now without spending loads!

First of all is this a bad idea? Has anyone done it and what paint did you use?
DH will do it and he’s quite good at DIY and will definitely prepare properly etc.

Door is white, house is painted pale grey with white windows. Grey slate roof. I would paint the door a darker grey but DH thinks that is boring and wants blue or yellow?! Have vetoed yellow but maybe blue or green.
It is a fairly normal looking 1950s semi so I think a brightly coloured door would look weird. All other houses on the street have white/grey/wood

Thank you!

We had ours sprayed; the company had a huge variety of colours to choose from. It was done about 6 years ago and still looks good.

Zinnser Allcoat is good for this, have painted plenty of pvc with this and it’s decent; available in a zillion colours too. Not done a door yet though. I think if I was to do mine, I’d get myself a cheap spray kit (this paint works well when sprayed apparently), have a bit of a practice and then spray the door, obviously a much cleaner finish than by brush.
