Online or local conveyancing? If local, local to where?

We've just accepted an offer on a house we're selling. It's a freehold property, currently mortgaged. There's no chain, it's being bought by an investor. We're hoping to get everything sorted asap and need to instruct a conveyancing solicitor. We do not live locally to the property (250 miles away). Is there any benefit to getting a local solicitor (to the house being sold) over online? A local solicitor to us isn't an option as we are in Scotland and the jouse is in England. Another option we have is to use a solicitor local to my husband's workplace in England where he spends 3 days a week. I appreciate any advice!

We used online, specialist conveyancers recently. Everyone else in the 5 party chain used local solicitors. Ours were extremely efficient. The general solicitors, not so much!

I’ve done it both ways and didn’t find one
much different to the other.

Thanks both, sounds like online might be the way to go for us.
