Green improve - free insulation

We are eligible for government grants for insulation measures - has anyone got any experience of them? We were definitely going to redo loft insulation anyway so would like that.

Is cavity wall insulation worth it or one of these things that turns out to damage your home?

Cavity wall insulation is good. It moves you up 3 points on EPC certificate.

Loft insulation yes. As long as ventilation is maintained

Cavity wall insulation post construction No. it’s caused too many problems in many different building types and as an Architect I would never have it installed post construction

A simple Google will identify the many issues

Cavity wall insulation could cause you massive problems - as above google for problems and misery caused. The Govt grant might be a good idea but it's also lead to problems with installers, again google it.

Yeh I've had a look and it doesn't look like it would be right for us. It's an old house plus we've just bought it so don't know what it's like yet for any of the issues cavity wall insulation can cause.

Will check what the loft insulation is although was already expecting to do that ourselves as current layer is not thick enough
