Clapton - Upper? Lower? What's it like?

I'm thinking of downsizing and am looking at Clapton. What's it like to live in? Where are the nicest streets and the ones to avoid? I'm not a young mum with toddlers (older mum with teens!) - and do want to make friends there too. I like pilates and yoga although not vegan or particularly alternative. I don't need schools but I like a green space to walk my dogs and breathe the air.

I don’t live there but a friend does. She’s got a really nice converted flat - very spacious - in Lower Clapton. Also friends had a small house in a nice new build square just south of there - Sutton Square? There are nice green spaces with the church yard etc nearby and the marshes not far away. Also near the National Trust/fancy Listed bit. However over all of Clapton the transport is terrible. Buses or bikes (or overground in the north). I suppose it depends on the age of your teens and their school/college/uni needs but transport might be worth thinking about - maybe also look over the marsh at Waltham Forest. Being on the tube saves a lot of faffing about

Thank you for this - I don't know the difference between Upper and Lower Clapton! I'll check out transport to my kids' school, but I generally bike everywhere.

I hadn't considered Waltham Forest
