Anyone know the area?

Dover itself is a typical port with all the unpleasant issues that go with that. You would be better looking at St Margaret's at Cliffe, Capel le Fern or Lydden if you want to be in that area.

I would try Deal or Sandwich instead.

I work in Dover. The housing stock is good, but unfortunately it's a very deprived area. If funds allow, look at the surrounding villages, or slightly further afield, some of Folkestone is a bit more up-and-coming, Hythe is nice too. St Margaret's is absolutely beautiful but you need to be rich to live there. Sandwich and Deal / Walmer are nice too.

Folkestone or around the coast from St Margaret's at Cliffe to Deal (I'd love to live in Kingsdown) but wild horses wouldn't get me to live in Dover itself.

Thanks, its not for me, Im just asking for someone else wondering.

I suppose the problem with villages near to a town is that you need a car, transport isnt great?

Just looking on the map, is River and Kersney considered in Dover or villages sort of on the outskirts, they look more green

Yes River and Kearsney are both nice

River, Kearsley, Temple Ewell are all nice places to live. Good transport into Dover and canterbury as well
