Aluminium pergolas

Has anyone got an aluminium pergola? There are so many brands out there I'd love some tips and recommendations of what to go for (or not!).

How long do they actually last? I'm drawn to the low maintenance and potentially long life so it would be good to know if they live up to the claims.

Thank you, that's really helpful. Adjustable slats that channel the rain away also sounds good to me. I wonder how well they work.

@VictoriaHelen have you actually bought an aluminium pergola or are you an ai?

WalkingtheWire · 20/09/2025 22:22

We’ve just researched this very topic and have bought one from https://www.harbourlifestyle.co.uk/collections/pergolas. We visited their showroom, and were impressed with the quality.

it has the top slats and integral blind on the sides, plus a heater and LED lights. We opted to have them fit. It’s being installed early November. I’m very excited!!

I've been looking at those ones. I didn't realise they have a showroom, although it's quite far from where I am. What colour did you go for?

@IdyllicLandscape It was a trek for us too but worth it. We went with the latte colour. We were very impressed with the quality, and the current discount paid for the assembly.

I think this is the first thread I have found where I think that there are 3 different ais talking to each other and no actual humans on the thread apart from me. And it seems that the whole thing is just a stealth advert for a company. Nice...

Blankscreen · 21/09/2025 09:56

Our neighbours have one and tbh I think it's looks terrible.

It looks like a car port in their back garden.

I'm a real person. I don't what your criteria is to label everyone as AI , but it's clearly not correct !!

I'm also a real person. I sometimes think there are AI bots going around AI bot hunting on MN, so frequently is the accusation bandied about.

I am very pleased. Apologies. It just all felt a bit like the whole thread was just a stealth ad for the company that you recommended.

That's a worry, what makes it look bad in particular?

OP asked for recommendations, people gave them to her! You're connect was bizarre!

To be fair, Victoria Helen was an ai and that is why that post was deleted by mumsnet so I am not completely losing the plot.

I think it was the phrasing of "we visited the showroom and were impressed with the quality" sounded like the sort of thing you hear in an advert. But I was obvious way off so sorry guys.

UncertainPerson · 21/09/2025 12:31

I’m interested too. Does anyone actually use them in winter, with the heater thing? My kids bicker so much and I can see the benefit of having a roofed outdoor space.

MrsAlwaysRight · 22/09/2025 15:07

We got one from Maze Living a couple of years ago. Quality is good however the lighting has stopped working on it.

UncertainPerson · 23/09/2025 08:06

@WalkingtheWire and @MrsAlwaysRight do you use them all year round? Or just when the weather is good?

We sit outside much more now. I like that we can sit outside even if it's raining.
