Re-roofing and just felt exposed

My roofer has removed the tiles off my roof today, but left just the felt. It’s going to rain tomorrow and he had said he won’t be back for a day or so. Is this ok? When I asked this evening, he replied:

Hi
Felt is all watertight,
Roof can be felt and batten in and will be absolutely fine.
We strip all tiles and old felt batten
Re felt and batten whole Job in
Once all new felt we then start to tile
Any issues please get in touch but will be fine..

Is this ok or will it leave my roof vulnerable to water damage?

A quick shower would probably be ok, but if your felt isn't perfect you'll be ending up with some water coming through if the weather is heavy. There's a reason why they put tiles on top of the membrane (or membrane under the tiles, depending on your point of view) - belt and braces.

Depends how heavy the rain is - a light shower should be fine.

That’s normal. It does feel weird, it took a few days to get all our tiles on so we only had felt on most of the roof for around 4/5 days.

Same here - tiles were off over the weekend and last night. We had some heavy bursts of rain here last night - but no leaks. You should be fine.

I thought this thread was about you having a workman in and him seeing you naked or something. 😅

When we had ours done the felt was left on over Christmas and it snowed! I wasn't happy about it but it was ok and nothing in the loft was damp.

As your roofer has told you, felt is watertight on its own. Nothing to worry about.

When my mum was having a repair that involved exposing a large amount of the corner. We had gayle force winds and driving raining. It's an elevated end terrace on a hill in a wind tunnel as there's a factory opposite. The noise was incredible but no water came in and was like that for a few weeks as it was too dangerous for them to finish it.

Very normal and totally fine op don't panic
