Grrrr…… bathroom tiling matching!!

Just need to rant (and hope someone might have a miraculous solution)

I have just discovered standard size tiles are not consistent, just like colour batches of paint or wool for knitting!

Who’d’ve thought a 147 mm tile would be 149 mm and that wouldn’t therefore match the 147 mm tile in place already that measures 146.

This small task has become a big problem - I can’t slice 3 - 4 mm off without breaking them. have bought a manual tile cutter as it’s only a small job - huh, I stupidly thought

What are you trying to achieve? Replace a single tile with one that is, nominally, identical?

Or tile an adjacent area with tiles from a different supplier that ideally line up?

I think it's a case of working out your spacing and having a slightly thicker line of grout. Though obviously you don't want it too thick in comparison to the rest. I didn't know this either but thankfully DH is a tiling machine so it worked out great. Good luck 🤞

@Cantseetreesforthewood
the second option

@Devilsmommy
that would work if they were smaller tiles

OK, so can you go for different tiles? Something a totally different size (and shape) and colour so the difference looks deliberate?

Dunn that wasn’t the look I was going for
